Mr. Bruce Richard is a consultant plastic surgeon based in the West Midlands. He offers a full range of cosmetic procedures including face lifts, eyelid reduction, nose reshaping and reconstruction and ear correction. He carries out much of his private practice work at the Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull.

Mr Richard's main areas of expertise include facelifts, nose reshaping, prominent ears and correction for drop foot. Mr Richard’s NHS clinical work involves treating children, young people and adults with facial deformities as a result of birth defects.

I enjoy being a plastic surgeon as it makes a real difference to people's lives. Understanding their hope of what an operation might achieve and then creating that by surgery, is a unique procedure every time. I enjoy the feedback from the patients, they've been anxious to come through the process and are usually delighted and feel it was all worthwhile.

In addition to his private cosmetic work, Bruce’s main NHS commitment is to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham NHS Trust, Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Here he specialises in child and adult facial reconstruction, in particular cleft lip and palate, ear deformities and nose reconstruction. Mr Richard carries out clinical research into the cause and treatment of facial deformity especially cleft lip and palate and he holds an honorary senior lectureship at the University of Birmingham in order to supervise some of these research projects.

Mr Richard has a commitment to improving health in less developed countries and spent nine years in Nepal setting up a department of plastic and reconstructive surgery for the Government of Nepal.
